However, venturing just a few minutes outside into the North Myrtle Beach area will yield many golf courses that you can play. When booking tee times, make sure to account for the time that you’ll have to take to drive down Ocean Boulevard and onto Highway 17 towards North Myrtle Beach or Myrtle Beach.

Surf Golf & Beach Club

Located closest to Cherry Grove, the Surf Golf & Beach Club is a semi-private golf course that was developed in 1960. With options for dining, social memberships and tennis, the Surf Club & Beach Club is one of the top courses in the area. If you are looking to book a tee time, it’s best to first check with the resort that you’re staying with to see if they have any preferred tee times. Prices can range from $75 to $90 depending on the season that you are playing.

Azalea Sands

Recently home to the Kilted Caddy Club, Azalea Sands is one of the oldest golf courses in North Myrtle Beach. Designed by Gene Hamm in 1972, Azalea Sands is shorter than the average course in the area, with the White Tees topping out at 6,287 yards. This course is easy to drive to if you’re staying the area, and you’ll have no problem finding a tee time as long as you’ve got enough time ahead of you to plan your trip. Prices can range from as low as $19 to $54 depending on the season and tee time.

Barefoot Dye

The Barefoot collection of courses is just a few minutes from Cherry Grove Beach. The Dye Course is the only semi-private course at Barefoot. A difficult challenge, the Dye course is known for rewarding great shots and harshly punishing poor shots. With rates from $95 to $195 depending on the season, the Dye Course at Barefoot is not the least-expensive place to play, but it’s commonly rated as one of the best.

Barefoot Love

Modeled after world famous courses like Pinehurst #2, the Love course is a popular destination for good reason. Year-round, golfers come to play the amazing Davis Love III designed layout and test their skills. A fair course, the Love course is designed to challenge both the serious golfer (the tips reach 7,000+ yards), while also offering generous fairways and well-maintained greens. Bring your A game with you and you’ll be rewarded with a low scoring round. Prices range depending on the season.

Barefoot Norman

With several holes bordering the Intercoastal Waterway, the Norman course is a visual treat. Along with waste bunkers and water, the Norman course offers up fun and challenging play across the board. A mix of styles, the Norman course has long grass, Saint Andrews style pot bunkers, and large open greens. The course is a nice one, and the price reflects that. In season, expect to pay about $190 and $95 during the offseason.

Barefoot Fazio

One of the most popular Barefoot courses (and as shown on TV during Big Break Myrtle Beach), the Fazio course is fun and rewarding play. With a dozen awards over the past 15 years including from Golf Digest and other publications, the Fazio is well-known for stellar golf. With a slightly short layout (400 yards shorter than the Normal course and a par 71 scoring layout), Fazio is made for shotmakers who can bend the ball with subtle fades and narrow draw shots. Ranging from $90 to $190, tee times aren’t cheap, but the experience is priceless.

Beachwood

Since 1968, Beachwood has been the staple of North Myrtle Beach golf trips. A very affordable course, Beachwood offers up 18 holes of championship golf with all of the normal trimmings you expect. With a full driving range to warm up, bar and lounge, you’ll have no problem with getting everything you need at this course. In the offseason, you can play for as low as $19, but normal in season rates are around $45.

Colonial Charters

Located in Little River, Colonial Charters is another 18-hole course located just minutes from Cherry Grove Beach. With a great layout and design, Colonial Charters is made for the golfer looking for a quicker round, as the Men’s tees top out at 6427 yards. Starting from the very first hole, Colonial Charters is made for those who like to shape the ball with gentle fades and draws, rewarding great tee shots with short irons and wedges into soft greens. With rates from $35 to $65 depending on the season, Colonial Charters is made for a great round while staying in Cherry Grove Beach.

Possum Trot

Just a short drive down Highway 17, Possum Trot is bit different than many other North Myrtle Beach golf courses. With plenty of water surrounding the greens on many of your approach shots, Possum Trot rewards very accurate short iron play. A longer course compared to many in the area, Possum Trot tops out at just under 7,000 yards from the tips.  If you want a challenge and to enjoy the beauty of North Myrtle Beach, give Possum Trot a try during your next trip. Depending on the season, expect to pay anywhere from $39 to $55 per round.

Tidewater

A top-rated Golf Digest public course, Tidewater is located just minutes from Cherry Grove Beach area. If you’re looking for one of the best courses in the area, you’ve found it. With great views of the Intercoastal Waterway, you’ll be hard-pressed to find another course like this in the area.
